Manual or automatic changeover?
Manual switches cost less and suit homes where flicking a switch during an outage is fine. Automatic transfer switches detect the outage and start backup power without you, ideal for businesses and critical equipment.
Can you do three-phase?
Yes. We install single-phase and three-phase changeover systems, including for machinery, workshops and commercial sites.
Why can't I just plug the generator into a powerpoint?
Because it back-feeds the grid, which can kill line workers and destroy your appliances when mains returns. It's illegal and genuinely dangerous. A changeover switch exists exactly to prevent this.
Will it power the whole house?
That depends on your generator's capacity. Most setups power essential circuits: fridge, lights, some powerpoints. We'll design the essential-circuits plan with you.
Do changeover systems need maintenance?
A periodic test and inspection keeps the switch, wiring and connections ready. We recommend running the system under load a few times a year.
Do you travel to rural properties?
Yes. Rural WA is a core part of our work, and generator changeovers are one of the most common jobs we do out of the metro.
