QuikFire Electrical supplies, hardwires and interconnects photoelectric smoke alarms across Perth. WA law requires mains-powered smoke alarms, less than 10 years old and meeting Australian Standard 3786, when a home is sold, transferred or rented. Most properties are made fully compliant in a single same-day visit, quoted as one fixed price.

We supply and fit photoelectric smoke alarms, carry out routine testing, replace expired units and make sure every alarm is positioned and interconnected correctly. Whether it's a chirping alarm or compliance before a sale or new lease, most jobs are sorted in one visit.

Time to replace or upgrade if...

Alarms are replaced, not repaired. These are the signs yours are due.

It chirps after a battery change

Persistent beeping usually means the unit itself has failed, not the battery.

The test button does nothing

No response means no protection. Replace it now.

False alarms for no reason

Ageing sensors and steam-prone placement cause nuisance alarms, and nuisance alarms get disabled. Dangerous.

It's yellowed or looks old

Discolouration is an age tell. Alarms have a 10-year lifespan; check the date on the back.

Battery-only alarms

WA requires mains-powered alarms at sale, transfer and rental. Battery-only units won't pass.

Not interconnected

In a modern setup, one alarm triggers them all, so a fire in the garage wakes you in the bedroom.

Questions, answered

Can't see yours? Call 1300 843 063 and we'll talk it through.

What does WA law require?

Mains-powered smoke alarms, less than 10 years old, are required when a home is sold, transferred or rented. Alarms must meet Australian Standard 3786. We confirm your setup complies before the deadline matters.

Why photoelectric alarms?

They detect slow, smouldering fires earlier and false-alarm less than older ionisation units, which is why they're the recommended type across Australia.

Where should alarms be installed?

In hallways serving bedrooms, on every storey, and near exit paths. Larger homes need additional units. Placement matters as much as the alarm itself, and it's part of what we get right.

Why does my alarm chirp even with a new battery?

Usually the unit has reached end of life or has a fault. Alarms are replaced, not repaired, and hardwired replacements stop the 3am battery chirp for good.

How often should I test my alarms?

Press the test button monthly and keep an eye on the expiry date (10 years from manufacture). Interconnected mains-powered alarms still need this simple check.

Can you fix it before settlement or a new lease?

Yes. Sale and rental deadlines are our bread and butter; most properties are made compliant in a single same-day visit.
